Vampires currently entertain us on television and on the big screen. It makes sense that sooner or later the Vampires would move into the health and beauty arena of our lives. It sounds like science fiction, but, it isn’t…it’s reality!

Actually, the components of our body, specifically our blood, that heal our cuts, injuries and fractures, can be harnessed for our cosmetic needs.

The process starts by drawing two teaspoons of your blood into a test tube, no fangs are involved, and separating the platelet rich plasma using a proprietary gel and centrifuge.

The highest percent of platelets and growth factors are from tubes of RegenLab, distributed in the US by Eclipse Aesthetics.  The platelet rich plasma (PRP), has a number of medical uses.

PRP-

  1. promotes healing of any injury, including laser skin resurfacing or burns
  2. improves the quality of our skin, including reducing wrinkles, as well as increasing skin elasticity, skin thickness and blood supply
  3. used as a glue to adhere our soft tissues together, such as with a facelift
  4. improves survival or our cells, such as during fat transfer procedures, such as facial fat grafting, natural breast augmentation and Brazilian butt lifts

Non-surgical or non-invasive cosmetic procedures far outweigh plastic surgery in numbers performed every year. Those seeking cosmetic enhancements prefer a no surgery solution with rapid recovery, minimal discomfort, but without sacrificing excellent outcomes.

A standard aesthetician facial begins with deep skin cleaning, skin exfoliation with a masque and microdermabrasion or mild chemical peels to remove the skin barrier (stratum corneum) followed by a variety of masques for hydration, calming, anti-inflammatory, or acne drying and followed by hydration with serums and creams to replenish the skin, and finally protecting the skin with a sun screen.

A Vampire Facial is the sister of the Vampire Facelift. The Vampire Facial starts with a microdermabrasion and is followed by a superior method of ensuring delivery of healing substances, known as dermal needling.

Small holes between 0.5 mm to 3.5 mm deep (the normal skin thickness is from 0.5 to 4 mm thick) are created by a powered skin micro-needling device, such as the Dermapenâ or MIcropenä. Thereafter, the healing powers of our body that we have collected and purified, the platelet rich plasma containing up to nine growth factors, are applied topically to the skin. The cost of this procedure is about $800.

The Vampire Facelift is indicated for those who desire more volume in areas of deficiency created by the atrophy of the aging process as well as rejuvenating one’s skin. The Vampire Facelift, a minimally invasive procedure that adds the placement of a skin or dermal filler, the most commonly used is a hyaluronic acid, known as Juvadermâ. This is then followed by placement of platelet rich plasma by either

topical application, dermal injection or subcutaneous injection. The cost of this procedure is about $1,500. The Vampire Facial can be performed simultaneously with the Vampire Facelift to optimize skin rejuvenation results.
